Where Did Summer 2025 Go

Where has summer gone! It feels like the BC road trip I planned for so long went by at the speed of lightning. The month of July flew by, and was filled with many laptop days, helping “nanny” my new fur niece (see my Instagram for cute puppy content), lake dips, bike rides, runs (doing a 10km race this Sunday!) and coffee shops visits to Wayne & Freda.

In the middle of the month I had an unexpected visit to Ontario to be with family, which reminded me how lucky this lifestyle is to have a flexible schedule and work a couple days remotely from my cousin’s office and be able to extend my stay with them. It was a 12 hour travel day to get to the Wassaga Beach area from Penticton, because gosh Canada is a BIG country. I’m consistently reminded of this and how much there is left to explore! Check out the cheeky travel reel I made for something a little different.

Although this trip was filled with lows, getting to spend time in Eastern Canada filled me with a high. To see extended family, spend a day at the cabin filling the bucket of the “classic” Canadian summer day with lake dips, corn on the cob, barbecue and ice cream for dinner, it’s the little things that make me feel connected at home. And I’m reminded of what Canadian culture is. We don’t have a prominent food scene, we get confused with the US 9/10 and have a mix of identities, but deep down we just like a few simple things.

I flew back to Kelowna, drove home to Penticton (scary drive at midnight post flying and there were SO many deer to watch for), and spent a couple more weeks with my sister and her pup. Before I left Penticton I BOOKED a flight [first name]! And will be in the Amsterdam area for the second half of September before the YTF Coliving!
